Previous Work

Since qualifying in 1988 in England, I have practiced in London, Brussels, and Dublin, and with significant periods working throughout the Balkans, and in the Middle East.

Initial practice after qualifying in England was construction law at Keating Chambers and then in regional chambers practising general civil and common law. I then undertook a stage with the European Commission (DG Market) and thereafter continued to practice in Brussels for four years, specialising European law,  acting as the retained Brussels-based  barrister for over seventy law firms. I was also legal correspondent for The European, a case headnoter for Common Market Law Reports, whilst reading for a Masters in European Law at the Universtaire Libre de Bruxelles.

I then moved to England  to practice European and English civil and commercial law, from chambers in Inner Temple,  and I was appointed Visiting Lecturer in European Law, at Southampton Solent University and authored EU Law for the Construction Industry (Blackwells, 1998).

Next was a move to Ireland, practising in a solicitors' firm for four years, handling commercial transactions and disputes, before returning to independent practice, initially as a consultant and legal expert, and then returning to practice as a barrister in both Dublin and London. I joined the Law Library, deveilling with Klaus Reichert, as  full member and 4-5 Gray's Inn Sq Chambers as an Associate Tenant.
