I am practising barrister based at 4-5 Gray's Inn Square Chambers in the UK and from the Law Library in Ireland. I work as an advocate, and legal advisor, as well as a mediator and dispute resolution neutral. I am also a published author and speaker on legal matters.
I practice European, English and Irish law. My main areas of practice are civil, commercial and public law and I specialise in contract, procurement, construction, and competition law. I get involved in disputes that get solved by way of litigation, arbitration, mediation, or negotiation, but I also act as a legal advisor in non-contentious work, such as transactions, business compliance, policy development, legislative drafting, and regulatory procedures.
At a basic level, most of my work is either dispute resolution or regulatory compliance. This leads to a broad range of disciplines from debt collection or common law torts, to construction contracts or company insolvency, to specialist competition and procurement or injunctions. My caseload is both domestic and interntional. It often involves EU Law. It can involve a cross-border element, either between UK and Ireland, or involving another EU member state, but can just as easily be entirely local.
I act for governmental departments, local authorities, companies and businesses of all description, as well as individuals and sole traders. I am invariably instructed by solicitors, but occasionally by way of direct professional access. I often carry out work for foreign lawyers and businesses, involving local solicitors when necessary.
In addition to normal legal practice, I carry out training seminars (particularly in procurement law) and work as a legal expert on international projects (mainly South East Europe and the Middle East, but it could be anywhere).
